- As Senior Consultant, completed a pinch study of 7 units (including Bis Phenol A)
at GE Plastics Mt. Vernon facility
- Results: Identified several feasible energy optimization projects
- Lead engineer for the design and startup of the first-of-its-kind styrene vapor emission
control system for Arco Chemical Company's Channelview Plant.
- Results: The startup went smoothly and the process is still in operation.
- Developed a steady-state model of a propylene glycol unit and uncovered new insights
about its operations
- Results: The model was used to optimize operations in the FOS plant in France as
well as in the Arco JV Plant in Yukong, Korea
- As a lead process engineer involved in the implementation of many successful design,
de-bottlenecking and safety projects
- Results: PO scrubber still in operation, New insights on handling hydrogen peroxide
in a column
- Taught seminars and courses on Steady State Simulation using AspenPlus, Refinery
simulation using AspenPlus, Chemical Plant Cost Estimation, Optimization, Process
Integration and Marginal Cost Analysis
- Results: Consistently received Good to Excellent ratings from seminar attendees
- Developed proposals and was the lead investigator for several research projects dealing
with pinch technology, cogeneration systems, heat pumps, solar energy, etc. US DOE,
GRI, EPRI, SERI, etc funded these projects.
- Results: Secured funding in excess of $4 million over a 6-year period.
